Import products from a spreadsheet
Your whole item list from the old system comes into Finday in one go.
Before you start
- Access to manage products and inventory.
- The product list from your old system, as CSV, XLS or XLSX.
Steps
Step 1: Open Import spreadsheet
On the Products page, click More actions, then Import spreadsheet.

Step 2: Download the template and fill it in
Click Download template. Fill in one row per product: code, display name, type, usage, base unit, track inventory, prices and account codes.

Step 3: Upload the file and check the preview
Click Upload file and choose a CSV, XLS or XLSX file. The preview shows which rows are ready and which need fixing.

Step 4: Click Import ready products
Finday creates and updates products from the ready rows. Invalid rows can be fixed and imported again.

When you are done
- New products are created, and products with the same code are updated.
- Category names that do not exist yet are created during the import.
Common problems
Rows are marked invalid in the preview
Check the required columns such as name, type and base unit, and the account codes, which must exist in the chart of accounts. Fix the file and upload it again.
