Set up approval routes
Every request goes to the right approvers, in the order of its layers.

- Access to manage approval routes.
- Approvers who are active employees. For a team route, create the team first in the Organization tab.

When you are done
- New requests follow the route from its Effective from date. Requests already waiting are not reassigned.
- A request goes to the Layer 1 approver, then to the next layer once approved.
Common problems
Purchases are approved straight away with no approver
New companies use a fallback route marked No approval required · automatic audited approval for purchases, advances and claims. Set up a route if you want an approver.
Employees cannot submit time off or overtime
Time off and overtime have no route in a new company. Check the Missing routes tab and create them.
A message says the employee is their own approver
An employee cannot approve their own requests. Choose another approver for that layer.
